Introduction
Every clip shows a real person talking to their webcam, and you hear
their real voice. In some of them the picture has been
faked. Can you tell which? Press 'Start' to begin.
This is the position you are in on a video call: you know the voice,
you have nothing to compare against, and you have to decide from
what you see.
About the game
The audio is always genuine. Only the video
may have been manipulated, so judge what you see, not what
you hear.
Fakes come in three flavours: a swapped face,
a re-animated mouth, or a
fully generated head. Each leaves different
traces.
After every answer we tell you which one it was and what gave
it away - so you get better as you play.
There are 50 clips and you see each one exactly once before
any repeats, with a score summary every 25 rounds.
Data
All clips come from the DeepSpeak v2 dataset by
Sarah Barrington, Maty Bohacek and Hany Farid,
used under academic licence for non-commercial public education.
Clips are shown unedited apart from a uniform re-encoding applied
equally to real and fake, so that none can be identified by its file
format.
